Community Guidelines
1. Welcome & Intent
RoleChats.com is a creative haven for live, text-based role‑playing across genres—fantasy, sci‑fi, modern life, and beyond! These guidelines exist to foster a positive, respectful, and fun space where stories flourish.
2. Respect & Civility
-
Be courteous: Personal attacks, harassment, or hate speech (based on race, gender, orientation, religion, etc.) are strictly prohibited.
-
No doxxing: Never request or post personal data—keep IRL info private.
-
One account per person: Alt-account abuse, evading moderation, or spamming is not allowed.
3. In‑Character vs. Out‑of‑Character
-
Keep character in character (IC): Pure role‑play occurs in the third person or dialogue.
-
Use clear OOC markers: Use brackets like
((...))
,((OOC: ...))
, or double parentheses for out‑of‑character talk.
4. Content & Themes
-
Consent matters: Any mature or sensitive content (e.g., violence, romance, dark themes) must occur only in designated rooms with clear participant agreement.
-
Appropriate content: Clean public rooms: no adult, graphic, or disturbing themes. Private/adult rooms: clearly marked.
-
No extremist or illicit content: Avoid extremist symbolism, illegal behavior, or glorification of harmful acts.
5. Role‑Play Conduct
-
“Yes, and…” etiquette: Build on others’ scenes collaboratively—don’t derail or reset plots unilaterally.
-
No Mary Sues / God‑mods: Characters should have limits. Avoid instant wins, no-answer zones, or controlling others’ characters without consent.
-
Fair combat and scenes: Don’t automatically kill or injure another’s character—clear it with them first.
6. Quality & Engagement
-
Maintain RP quality: Use full-sentence literacy. Avoid excessive abbreviations or lazy typing—keep your writing clear and immersive.
-
Activity standards: Stay active. Long inactivity (typically >1 week) may result in character reassignment.
-
Stay on-topic: Keep scenes aligned with room genre and plot.
-
Avoid spam: No repeated text, memes, random links, or off-topic distractions.
7. Moderation & Reporting
-
Follow moderator instructions: They're here to keep things fair and safe.
-
Reporting issues: Use the built-in report feature if you experience harassment, non-consensual content, rule violations, or bullying.
-
Resolution path: Minor issues = warnings ➝ repeat offenses lead to temporary removal ➝ serious or repeated violations = permanent bans.
